"Founder @ Uncle Nonu Agro Foods Pvt Ltd"

I am Himansshu M. Raghav, an Electronics Engineer and MBA who chose entrepreneurship over a conventional corporate career to solve real-world problems in food and agriculture.

My entrepreneurial journey began with building agricultural supply chains and understanding the challenges faced by farmers, food processors, and consumers. While working closely with the food industry, I realized that fresh food has a limited shelf life, transportation is expensive, and nutritious ready-to-eat meals are often unavailable during travel, emergencies, defence operations, and in remote locations.

This led me to establish Sun19 Farms and later Uncle Nonu Agro Foods Pvt. Ltd., with a vision to create healthy, preservative-free, long shelf-life foods using advanced hot-air dehydration technology. Our products retain nutrition, are lightweight, easy to transport, and can be prepared quickly with minimal resources.

Despite limited resources, I invested years in research and product development, building a manufacturing facility, obtaining certifications including FSSAI, HACCP, ISO, APEDA, and Organic (NPOP), and developing a diverse portfolio of dehydrated meals, millet products, fruit and vegetable powders, and emergency ration solutions.

Our innovations have found applications in defence, disaster relief, trekking expeditions, students, travellers, hospitals, and everyday consumers. Seeing our products being used by soldiers and adventure teams has reinforced our belief that food innovation can create meaningful social impact.

As a founder, I continue to focus on developing scalable, sustainable, and affordable food solutions that reduce food waste, improve nutrition, support Indian farmers, and make healthy meals accessible anywhere, anytime. My vision is to build a globally recognized Indian food technology company that combines innovation, nutrition, and sustainability while creating value for consumers and farming communities alike.

Timeline

Biggest challenge faced: The biggest challenge has been transforming an innovative food idea into a commercially viable business with limited resources. Developing ready-to-eat dehydrated meals required years of research, repeated product trials, and continuous improvements in taste, texture, and shelf life while ensuring nutrition and food safety.

At the same time, building market acceptance was difficult. Convincing customers to adopt a new category of healthy, preservative-free dehydrated meals required extensive product demonstrations and awareness. Managing cash flow, scaling production, maintaining consistent quality, and navigating regulatory requirements added further complexity.

How did the idea originate? The idea originated from observing two critical challenges: the massive wastage of fresh agricultural produce due to its short shelf life and the lack of convenient, nutritious meal options for people on the move. At the same time, I noticed that soldiers, trekkers, students, travellers, disaster relief teams, and busy professionals needed healthy meals that were lightweight, easy to transport, and quick to prepare. This inspired me to develop preservative-free dehydrated ready-to-eat meals and food products using advanced dehydration technology. The goal was to reduce food waste, create better value for farmers, and make nutritious food accessible anytime, anywhere.

Journey before becoming a founder: I built my career in business development across diverse industries, including telecommunications, FMCG, and renewable energy. My work took me to 10-12 countries, where I helped companies expand into new markets, build strategic partnerships, strengthen their brands, and scale revenues.

These international experiences gave me valuable insights into global consumer behavior, supply chains, market entry strategies, and business operations. Working with organizations at different stages of growth taught me how innovation, execution, and customer-centric thinking drive long-term success.

The exposure to global markets and the challenges within India's food and agriculture sector inspired me to start my own venture, with a vision to build innovative, sustainable, and globally competitive food solutions that create value for both consumers and farmers.
